Heinrich Matthee

Heinrich Matthee is the director of JISR and advises corporations on strategic trends, political risk management, and business opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa. He has lived and worked for many years as an analyst in the region and is a contributor to the Al-Jazeera Center of Studies and Middle East Policy. Previously, he was a researcher at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi, a London-based Gulf analyst for Control Risks, and the EU Research Director of the Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Affairs in Dubai.

Dr. Matthee has published several books and articles on politics and business in the Middle East and Africa. He has taught at business schools and the University of Amsterdam and has two law degrees, two postgraduate degrees in strategy and international relations and a D.Phil. in political science magna cum laude from the University of Marburg (Germany). He has advised several international agencies, non-government organizations and multinational corporations.

Stefan Schepers

Stefan Schepers is the Secretary General of the independent tripartite High Level Group on Innovation Policy Management (2012-2014). (www.highlevelgroup.eu). He also is the founder and chairman of the Governing Council of Mazungumzo-the African Forum in Brussels (www.mazungumzo.eu). A former Director general of the European Institute of Public Administration (Maastricht, 1981-1990), he currently is a consultant to business and governments on corporate strategy and public policy alignment, EPPA (Brussels www.eppa.com) and AEAC (Johannesburg www.aeac.co.za) and a visiting professor, University of Reading, Henley Business School (UK).

Stefan Schepers holds Master degrees in Law (University of Leuven, Belgium) and in European Studies (University of Strasbourg, France), and a PH.D. in Political Science (University of Edinburgh, Great Britain).
